History
The program started admitting students for the five-year daytime program, and the two-year evening program for Junior College program in August 1995 with only one class for each program that specialized in English. The program has been constantly honored by the Ministry of Education for its outstanding academic performance. At the end of 1998, the department had forty classes in total, which included daytime, evening and extension program. In 2002, the program was promoted to, and renamed The Department of Applied Foreign Language due to the excellent performance reviewed by the Ministry of Education in 1998.
With The Program of International Commerce and Information Management, WuFeng’s Applied Foreign Language Department provides students with a learning environment that has profound resources of information and business. Furthermore, since the program was established in 1995, the most advanced learning facilities and resources have been continually renovating the school’s facilities to offer students the best learning environment possible. We now have up to date technology throughout our school, such as multi-media computers, great collections of references, computer labs, and language labs. Currently, forty-eight outstanding and professional members with doctoral degree and master degrees staff the program. With advanced facilities, enthusiastic professionals and state of the art technology, the Department of Applied Foreign Language is sure to provide the best in educational opportunities.
Academy and Research
To promote the government policy to be internationalized, liberalized, and diversified, the program’s emphasis is on training our students to become competent professionals with a good foreign language proficiency, profound knowledge in business and a wide range of computer skills. Our goal also includes training students to be professionals in the fields of Children’s English Education, Tourism and Catering.
In order to assist our students in becoming professionals, our goals are aimed to facilitate students to obtain a basic English proficiency in all aspects of the language, familiarize them with TESL methods and teaching strategies along with skills in applied Tourism English, and the use of computer and commercial software. Our school also provides services assisting students in obtaining employment after completing our school’s program.

Future Prospects

To employ more Chinese and foreign English teaching and Tourism teachers with master’s or doctorial degrees. To enhance teacher’s training by encouraging teachers to absorb and apply new knowledge in their teaching techniques through various conferences and short-term study programs | |

To purchase more books and hardware equipment: |
To request for funds for our budget to buy more books for the department along with additional video and audio equipment in the classroom for the convenience of introducing high-tech ideas and programs
To purchase more periodicals for the department

To improve administrative management by employing more assistants in the department’s office | |

To enrich the curriculum: |
To develop CAT teaching materials and curriculum
Teachers divided in groups to supervise specific classes on the teaching objectives and the progress of the horizontally integrated subjects
To discuss and make improvements on the teaching objectives of the core and vertically integrated subjects
To enlarge the scale of internships in order to provide students with more practicum training

Career Counseling and Internship: |
To cooperate with colleges from English-speaking countries and Japan to provide students with study abroad programs during summer vacations.
To provide counseling on advanced study for the graduates
